Summary:It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.
Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.
Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.
Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.
I can see why people seem to like it so much. I love the humor between the two main characters Raffe and Penryn. Also love that there was less romance and more action in the book. Which is understandable because their pretty much running from place to place. One thing I hope not to find in the next book is that there is a love triangle between the rebel leader, Raffe, and Penryn. All three have to much to worry about so hopefully it'll be between the two main. Now the main characters are interesting Penryn grew up to fast with a wheelchair bound little sister and a mother who talks to beings that she believes she sees. Plus you kind a have to in a Post Apocalyptic world where angels rule above and street gangs rule the ground. But she sure knows how to think on her feet. And Raffe is just a pissed off fallen angel who does have a soft side which he doesn't show all that much. My favorite characters have to be the twins at the rebel camp. though they weren't in this a lot they still put a smile to my face. The last couple of chapters where crazy and now I can't wait to read the next book to see what happens.
