This is the story about Wrath the blind king vampire and Beth a orphan that is stuck in a rut.Because of a promise to Beth's dad Wrath promised to help Beth with her change until a vampire and got more than they both planned on.

    I enjoyed this book even though I was looking for more action there was some but it was quick and then over. Which is a bummer since I would of liked more of the fight between the Brotherhood and the Lesser. Instead all the fighting seemed to happen between Wrath and Beth. Which I guess is normal if you come to realize that your father was a vampire, was close, and soon would be one to. Plus Wrath is very closed off which again is understandable with things you find out about his past. I enjoyed the romance between Wrath and Beth though it was let's have sex then I want nothing to do with you then rinse and repeat. Wrath and Beth separate is cool for they are both hard headed but so needed the other.
    Another save in these book is the other Black Dagger brothers. They have a lot of character in each one and their own back stories that makes me want to continue the series.  All are dark and terrifying and yet they bound together to take out the Lessers who seem to multiply like bunnies. Speaking of Lessers the leader Mr. X is scary thinker. He thinks things through and looks at all the angels. And even though I want the Brotherhood to win I would like to see where Mr. X takes this war. It would be cool to find out.

I have a hard time with adult books which is funny since I started out reading it before young adult. However am glad I gave this book a try and I have the next  two books in these series. so hopefully I'll read them soon, and see if I can get more interested as the books go on.

Weekend Read

I was actual going to read this book last weekend but then another book came into my life ( cough Sweep by Cate Tiernan cough). So this book was on the back burner for a bit but now am ready for it. The book is drum roll please....




Found this beauty on book outlet in hardback which was surprising since it came out this year. However am not going to hate and read about this new world that Kelley Armstrong has created for us. Also am trying to not find out to much about this book other than its about twin sisters and spirits. Wish me luck and hope you have a good weekend.

Major Slumping

I haven't been blogging for the simple fact that I haven't been reading or nothing really. I watched all three seasons of Once Upon a Time on Netflick, and now waiting for Sunday for the season 4 to start. Plus Castle comes back on Monday, so other than watching tv, sleeping, and going to work I haven't felt like doing anything else anytime soon. Hopefully I'll snap out of it and reds one of my books off my current reads pile and get back into it. Until then happy reading everyone else and hope your not going through a slump yourself.

I have picked this book for a random read for July and am 127 pages through. So far am enjoying this book and hope to finish by at least tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

This book is about Miki Jones and Miki has always have had a control life the way she likes it. However that all changes when she gets hits by a truck to save a classmates little sister. When she wakes up she finds herself in the Lobby where there are others that will become her team mates. Without anything really being explained she is told that she is in the "Game", and that she is has to help protect the Earth from the Drau (an alien creatures). Now Miki has to balance through to different worlds and try not to die permanently inside the "Game."

                                    My thoughts:

 

This isn't all about zombies but how Benny and his friends coming to in a world that is pretty ugly. This all started fifteen years ago during First Night when one person dead and was turned into a zombie. No one understands how this happens, but what they do understood is when a person dies they come back as zombie. 

 

When Benny is first introduced he is a really angry teenager first at zombie and his half big brother Tom. However when he leaves Mountainside with his brother to the Ruin he learns a lot. He learns what his brother actual do is not to kill for cash but more like a mercy bounty hunter. Other bounty hunter's like Charlie "Pink Eye" and Motor City Hammer do things for a profit, and other times just for fun. Tom himself is my favorite character for the fact that he is quiet however strong and knows so much things about everything.

 

A thing to know about this book is that it can be graphic in ways that can be a little disturbing to me at least. But Jonathan Maberry knows how to write where you gets into the world. Plus the relationship between the characters themselves is good to see especially the relationship between the Imura brothers. There is a lot of growing in these book, and I cant wait to get to the next three book.

To Arras this is an honor to anyone who is chosen and taken to the Coventry to be trained to helpful to there world. However Adelice and her parents try to train to hid her "gift" with no luck. Now Adelice is in a world she wanted nothing to do with and fighting the whole way. Now she gaining friends, also enemies, and learning more about Arras and the Guild. Also learn more about herself and find out she's more special then she ever thought she was.

                                My Thought

This book in the beginning was confusing to me for the fact that I thought (because of the time piece on the cover) that it had something to do with time travel. Well I was half right it does involve time but there is no real traveling as I first thought. Once I got over that I stared enjoying it especially when Adelice goes to the Coventry, and start trouble. Crewel is based in Arras and in this world it is controlled down to the last thing. The government (the Guild) are made up of men, and they make sure no chaos happens. Second in command (in a way) are the Spinsters who help keep everything in the order that the Guild wants it to be. Spinsters are in the own class unique for the fact that they are all made of women who at sixteen took a test (the retailer) to find out if a they had the gift to weave looms then sent off to Coventry to really see if they have what it takes to be a Spinster. Spinsters are special in their own way that they can weave the weather (since natural disasters are a no, no), everything is scheduled. Babies have to be requested and you can also request your elder, sick family member to be ripped (killed). Then there is another type of Spinster and there is only one of them is called Creweler's there is one is only one and the only reason that Arras exist. This world is very controlling and am surprised not more people didn't question what was happening. But then again you could be ripped if the Guild even thinks for one minute that your a traitor so it shouldn't be much of a surprise.

                     Memorable Characters 

Adelice the main character was always taught to hid what her gift so that she wouldn't be taken from her family. She also got a mouth on her that has been getting her in trouble since she was taken after during her retrieved. She can be whiny but she also is a is a strong character and is loyal. Maela is a crazy Spinster that wants more power then she already has as the head Spinster at the Coventry. She is the evil and hated Adelice from the very beginning (which was felt right back), and the hate just grew. Erik this is Maela lap dog (Adelice words that I agree with) he is pretty much the voice of Maela when she's not around. I liked Erik as a character other than the fact that he doesn't have a backbone and that his attention toward Adelice weren't always clear. Jost He was by far my favorite character for the fact that he kept it real and a mystery at the same time. His job at the Coventry is heading the servants, and spending time with Adelice in her jail cell.Cormac is pretty much one the most powerful men in Arras and a total drunk. Every time he shows up (which is a good amount of the time not much in the beginning but in the middle on) he always has an alcoholic beverage in his hand. He becomes obsessively drawn to Adelice which is gross since he's a old man (though he don't look it thanks to technology).

    

                              Final Thoughts

The ending was cool and how the next book would be based some where different from Arras. Though i love how the relationship ended up Crewel it is only first book in a trilogy i fear that will change. (sad face). However i can't wait to see what happens in the next book Altered and get introduced to new characters, setting, and new troubles.

Storm Front Review

Summary:
Harry Dresden is a Paranormal Investigations and also a wizard. He the only wizard in Chicago and he helps Chicago P.D help with magically base cases. So when the P.D calls with a double murder committed by black magic Harry jumps on the case so that he can finally afford rent, however Harry never expected to see what he see's at the crime scene or expect the bad luck that come after.
POSITIVES:  I enjoyed this book for the most part it had great humor and has fantasy elements. There is also an mystery element where you don't know who the killer is, and you just have to keep wondering. I like Harry as a character he one of those wise cracking wizard who don't take much real serious, and even though he has magic it doesn't help him out in the real world. I also like that he has a heavy past and that he has no luck with the ladies. I don't know why seeing him try dating is so funny, and if you read it how wrong it turns out. The images that Jim Butcher brings can be graphic especially when it came to the fight/crime scene.
NEGATIVES: Not much bothered me except the fact that Harry sometimes do stupid things like not trusting Murphy (the Lt. P.D. ),and in the end she can't trust him anymore. Also there is one character named Bob who is a magically skull that lives in Harry's basement. I loved him and I wished there was more of him in the book. Also something that was mentioned a couple times but wish there was more about the White Council. I know I will not like them for there old fashion ways, but would like to read so I can rage more about them.
      Other than that am really looking forward to get into this series and read more about Harry and magically beings that he comes across. There is fantasy, mystery, and humor all rolled into one and I highly enjoyed it.
